Venture Capital
Venture capital funding has gained enormous ground around the world. In countries where markets are less developed, the distinction between venture capital and private equity is not always clear. Venture capital firms like to invest in emerging companies with potential for fast growth. In exchange for equity and some management control, they are often willing to provide substantial sums in growth capital. Typically, VCs want to get a return on their investment in three to five years, so they tend to look for companies that are likely to be acquired or to go public.
