Curriculum Vitae (CV)
There are entire sections of bookstores dedicated to how to write a CV, but it isn't rocket science. A CV typically lists your work experience and qualifications, education history, and work-related awards and honours. It can be organised chronologically or by specific skills. The formatting can differ from country to country—in India, for example, a chronological order is preferred, starting with the first job and ending with the most recent. However, increased global labour mobility means that employers are more flexible on format as long as the CV is strong. Many job seekers supplement their paper CVs with online and video versions.
No matter what format you choose, focus on showing how your skills and experience can benefit the employer. If you are looking for more than one type of job, create a different CV for each position. Not confident in your writing skills? Hiring a professional CV-writing firm to put one together for you may be a smart investment.
