Many employers use agencies to hire both permanent and temporary workers, contract workers and consultants. Certain positions may not be advertised, or agencies may be requested to do initial applicant screening, so there is some advantage to registering with an agency. Some agencies charge the employer for placements; others require fees from job hunters.
