Private vs. Local Authority Schools
Why send your children to private school when schools run by the local authority will not charge tuition? In some areas, the local authority schools are failing to meet academic standards. Or you may be drawn to the high-end facilities of a private school. But given how expensive university can be, it's worth considering whether the additional cost of private primary school could prevent you from achieving your university savings goals. Studies of primary-school children have found that the socioeconomic level of the parents plays a greater role in a child's early educational attainment than whether he or she went to private school. The choice is a matter of personal goals and values.
