Living Will
Also known as an "advance decision," a living will is a statement of your wishes indicating that in certain circumstances, some or all types of medical treatment should be refused if you are unable to indicate that at the necessary time. A living will cannot be used to request treatment or to ask for life to be ended. Most countries have living will statutes that define when a living will goes into effect, often depending on the length of time you have left to live and your mental capacity. You may wish to consult a legal adviser to help you understand your local estate planning laws and ensure that your wishes are implemented. Note that there is no legislation for living wills in India; decisions on treatment are usually left to family members.
