Adoption

Adoption is a complex and costly process—for which laws and procedures vary from country to country. For instance, when adopting within the U.K., the majority of the legal and other costs are covered by the local authority. International adoptions can be considerably more expensive. If you plan to adopt, a good accountant should be able to familiarise you with current tax benefits for adoptive families. Your employer may also offer benefits to defray the cost. In some countries, including India, adoption is even more complicated because of various family laws. Adoptions are on the rise, however, and there are a number of agencies that can provide support and advice.
