Large-cap stocks are those of firms with strong market capitalization, often above $3 billion. Frequently called blue chips, these companies typically have a long history. Some large-cap stocks pay dividends, showing generally slow but stable growth. They can be a good complement to small-cap stocks in a portfolio.
